|the ferry specialist in St-Barth|
Great Bay Express is now a more than 4 years old operation established by Sir Bobby Velasquez, a famous figure in the islands yachting industry and owner of "Bobby's Marina".
GBE is strategically set in Philipsburg, the capital of Sint-Maarten, minutes from the Juliana airport (the main international airport) and within 45 minutes across the waters from St-Barth.
The main vessel is the "Shantiwa", a Louisiana built alluminium 65' mono-hull flying the Anguilla flag and under the strict British MCA supervision. The hull design makes it a perfect ship for our waters and helps making your trip as much as comfortable as possible.
There are two outside decks (one covered) and one air-conditionned salon. The total capacity of the Shantiwa is 130 passengers and the cruising speed is at 23 knots.
Coming from Juliana airport you just have to look for the Great Bay Express shuttle buses (drivers are Patrick and Robinson) or take a cab and ask to be driven to "Great Bay Express at Bobby's Marina in Philipsburg".
The taxi ride takes typically about 30 minutes, but on heavy traffic days it can take a little more. Upon arrival at the marina you will have to present your passports and tickets before boarding. Cut off time is 30 minutes prior scheduled departure.
From St-Barth, you have to check-in at our booth on the Gustavia ferry pier about 1/2 hour prior to the departure with your ticket and passport.
There is no extra-charge for luggages.
You can travel with a dog at not extra charge. Small ones will be allowed on a leash, big ones in a cage, but in both case, they will have to travel outside (pets are not allowed in the main salon for hygienic reasons). Pets must travel with a valid documentation to be presented to the immigration officer if requested.
Please note that you must verify if your citizenship is subject to the special visa for Saint-Barth/French Overseas Departements of America - Guadeloupe.
SCHENGEN VISA ARE NOT VALID FOR SAINT-BARTH.
VISAS CANNOT BE ARRANGED LOCALLY, YOU MUST DO THAT IN ADVANCE WITH THE FRENCH EMBASSY/CONSULATE CLOSEST TO YOUR PLACE OF RESIDENCY.
